Description
Lara Walnut Sapling is a France-origin walnut variety widely preferred in modern walnut production due to its high productivity, premium kernel quality, and late blooming habit. It performs especially well in high-altitude regions. All our saplings are certified, true-to-type, and disease-free.
The tree has a semi-vigorous and semi-spreading growth habit. Under proper orchard management, it provides very high yields. Its late blooming characteristic offers resistance against spring frosts, making it suitable for colder growing regions.
The nuts range from medium-large to large in size. They are oval-shaped with slightly rough shells. The shell is thin and easy to crack, allowing easy kernel separation. The kernel color is bright white with excellent appearance quality. Kernel yield averages around 45β50%.
The nuts are suitable for both fresh and dried consumption. Their long storage life provides major advantages for commercial production.
Harvest season generally occurs during September, depending on altitude and climate conditions.
Recommended pollinators are Franquette and Fernette.
Lara performs successfully in higher elevations and can be cultivated at altitudes above 1000 meters under suitable climate conditions.
